Raunds is is a small market town in rural Northamptonshire with a population of around 10,000 people. The town is just off the A45 between the A6 at Rushden and the A14 at Thrapston. The A1 and M1 also pass nearby. There are a number of larger towns within 30 minutes or so drive, including Northampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Peterborough.

The town of Raunds grew up - like several other local towns - around the boot and shoe industry, allthough this declined in the 1950's and 60's. Local attractions include a regular Friday market, the nearby  Stanwick Lakes - internationally recognised for its birdlife,  Rockingham Forest and the annual Raunds Music Festival.

The town offers a good mix of shops, restaurants and pubs. Your hosts Brian & Linda can advise on these and other features of the area.

For an evening meal, why not try The Axe & Compass at Ringstead which is about two miles away.
